Whole-of-state isn’t only for cybersecurity

Whole-of-state cybersecurity has become a popular model for distributing services to local governments in recent years. But Mississippi Chief Information Officer Craig Orgeron says he thinks that not only will it become more popular, but the model may spread to other domains of technology, as well. “Even in a small state like Mississippi, at-scale matters,” he says. “If it’s not a contract, but a service. Pricing, all those other things matter. You really are getting access to these services, which are cloud based, or software as a service, you can do a lot more with that. So I think the whole-of-state is going to bleed in through cyber into other areas of IT.”

This video was recorded on Sept. 30, 2024, at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers annual conference in New Orleans.
