Vermont governor names new deputy technology secretary

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott and Denise Reilly-Hughes, the state’s Agency of Digital Services secretary and statewide chief information officer, on Tuesday announced the appointment of Andrea DeLaBruere as the new deputy secretary of the digital services agency.

DeLaBruere will join the agency from the Department of Vermont Health Access, the state’s Medicaid and health insurance exchange administrator, where she’s served as commissioner since December of 2021, according to a news release. She starts Dec. 18.

Before her time with the Department of Vermont Health Access, DeLaBruere worked as an executive director for the Vermont Agency of Human Services, where she helped with pandemic response and led communications and legislative affairs, according to the release. She also has experience in the health information technology, pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

“Andrea has been a reliable and dedicated public servant in several roles across state government, and she will be able to use that experience and knowledge at ADS, which serves the entire enterprise,” Scott said in the release. “I’m confident that she will continue to excel in this new role.”

DeLaBruere thanked the governor in the press release and called public service a “guiding force in my commitment to making a lasting positive impact.”
