A new statewide policy in Kansas makes room for uncertainty in the rapidly changing domain of generative artificial intelligence.

The top IT official in Kansas is set to depart state government at the start of the new year to return to teaching.

DeAngela Burns-Wallace, the state's secretary of administration, will also serve as Kansas' new chief information technology officer, Gov. Laura Kelly said.

The technology executive's exit comes as Jeff Colyer replaces Sam Brownback as the state's new governor.
