The Government Coordinating Council for the Education Facilities Subsector is intended to mitigate the rising threat of cyberattacks against K-12 schools.

A department official said incident response plans last updated in 2010 are getting a new look, following a GAO report last year.

The state is spending $3 million to outfit more than 500 districts with mobile public safety tech used in a growing number of schools around the country.
