The defense contractor Raytheon Intelligence & Space announced Wednesday it was selected by the Georgia Technology Authority to provide cybersecurity services to statewide agencies.

The contract for the services, according to a Raytheon news release, is valued at up to $34.1 million and will provide the Georgia IT bureau and other state agencies with a full suite of cybersecurity capabilities, including a security operations center, incident-response services, vulnerability management, event logging, risk compliance and training.

“Cybersecurity is a challenge for every organization, and it gets tougher every day,” Georgia Chief Information Officer Shawnzia Thomas told StateScoop in an emailed statement. “Protecting state networks, systems, and data is a top priority for the Georgia Technology Authority, and we are pleased to partner with Raytheon Intelligence & Space. I am confident that the state will benefit from the proven services, innovative tools, and depth of knowledge that Raytheon brings.”

News of the contract comes a few weeks after David Allen, Georgia’s chief information security officer since 2019, left state government for a private-sector job. Deputy CISO Mike Davis has been leading Georgia’s cybersecurity team in the interim, as a permanent replacement for Allen has not been announced.
