The agencies were no longer needed because they had either accomplished their goals or were never actually established in the first place, according to an AP report published in the San Francisco Chronicle’s SF Gate.

The list of agencies being eliminated includes government authorities that were created to oversee urban renewal projects or industrial development.
State officials did not say how much the decision would save taxpayers.
