Oklahoma WIC now fulfills mail-order specialformula needs easier, faster, with accurate reporting, and efficient ordering and distribution.
AccessDNR Apple Watch App

In June 2015, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources debuted the AccessDNR Apple Watch app, whichallows users to discover nearby waterways fromtheir wrist. It was the first Apple Watch app created by a state governmentthat usesgeolocation. The app uses the iPhone’s geolocation technology andApple Mapstoprovide directions to the top 10 closest water access points or water trails. On-screen icons also indicate whether the site has a boat ramp or soft launch. To date, thousands of Marylanders have downloaded the AccessDNR mobile app.

The Montana Business Checklist is a powerful,easy-to-useservice that bringsall Montana’s business permits and licenses into one location. This service helps users navigate throughMontana’s permitting and licensing, and helps develop businesses into Montana success stories. The service was developed by a partnership between the Montana Department of Administration, the Montana Governor’s Office of Economic Development, as well as with the assistance of several other state agencies, including the Secretary of State, Department of Revenue, and the Department of Labor and Industry.

The Oregon Government Ethics Commission launched afiling system toimprovetransparencyand simplifythe filing process for lobbyists, theirclients or employers;and public officials. The system allows users to submitrequired reports, and automaticallyemails deadline notices and reminders. It features publicaccess to all registrations and expenditure reports filed bylobbyists and clients, allowing instant searches of theinformation on laptops or mobile devices. This helps legislatorsdetermine who the people they meet are lobbying for. Sincelaunching in late 2015, more than 5,000 registrations and filershave beensubmitted successfully online.

TheNebraska Secretary of State Elections Division launched a bilingual and cross-agency application for online voter registration in September. Branded NEReg2Vote, theinteractive system securely retrieves, and then matches,users’ personal information from the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. The application offers a simple interface foreligible users to enter or update their voter information. Navigation demonstrations and voter FAQs are available to assist first-time and returning voters. Adoption is projected to surpass 15,000 users by this years national election.

With thousands of pay phones sitting unused or damaged beyond repair across New York City, the Mayors Office of Technology and Innovation devised a system to retrofit old phonebooths intoWi-Fi kiosks that offer free, high-speed public internet to city residents and visitors. Though only a handful of kiosks are live now, the city plans to have several thousand in regular operation, providing wide coverage for the city’s residents and visitors. The city is working on a solution thatallowsusers to seamlessly jump between kiosk coverage areas without losing reception.

Missouri’s Office of Cyber Security has built a portal to share threat intel that has been collected from interagency incidents and other sources. The portal provides a platform to share threat intel in a timely manner to trusted individuals and enables collaboration between OCS and its partners. The portal is innovative in the state government space, uses advanced technologies to feed it, and has the goal of safeguarding citizen’s information by sharing threat intel as quickly as possible. The portal keeps the enterprise and partners updated about the threats, campaigns, malwareand vulnerabilities they are facing.
