NASCIO announces 2018 State IT Recognition Awards finalists
Arkansas’ school broadband upgrade , Illinois’ blockchain initiative and a multi-state consortium for unemployment benefit applications are among the finalists named Wednesday as part of an annual program recognizing the best projects and programs in state government technology.
The National Association of State Chief Information Officers revealed a list of 31 finalists across 10 categories of state government technology functions as part of its State IT Recognition Awards. This year marks the 30th consecutive year that NASCIO has held the program, one that Arkansas CIO Yessica Jones called in a press statement “prestigious.”
“Peer review is what sets NASCIO awards apart from others in the field and this recognition from peers is especially meaningful to the award finalists,” Jones said.
The finalists, which include projects like the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology’s Security Operations Center and Michigan’s Investment Reporting Tool, were selected by NASCIO members who volunteered as judges.
Winners in each of the 10 categories are to be announced during an awards dinner at NASCIO’s annual conference in San Diego in October.
“These awards provide a national platform to honor states and project teams on a job well done and to demonstrate the integral and transformative nature IT can have on state government and the experiences of citizens,” New Hampshire CIO Denis Goulet said in a press release.
