Link: Q&A with Texas Cyber Coordinator Brian Engle
The Texas Department of Information Resources recently elevated Brian Engle from the state’s chief information security officer to the title of the Texas cybersecurity coordinator.
In his new role, Engle will continue to act as the state’s CISO, but also help create public-private partnerships to establish a workforce pipeline of cybersecurity professionals to spur innovation and achieve economic competitiveness in Texas.
Other components of the role include improving the cybersecurity posture across the state and developing preparedness for cybersecurity threats.
Engle highlights his new job in a question-and-answer session with the Austin Business Journal, where he discusses trends in state information security, the differences between security in the public and private sectors and how reliant states are to government contractors for security.
