Maryland IT names new COO
Mike Malinoff, the former city manager of Annapolis, Md., has been named the chief operations officer for Maryland’s Department of Information Technology.
Malinoff will be responsible for the operational aspects of the department, including procurement, budget and oversight for major technology projects when he joins state government next week.
In his last job, Malinoff served as city manager of Annapolis from July of 2010 until this month when new city mayor Mike Pantelides decided he wanted to bring in someone of his own to fill the position.
With Maryland, Malinoff will be joining an IT organization that has seen some changes over the past few months. In August, Isabel FitzGerald was named the state’s secretary of technology, replacing Elliott Schlanger, who was moved to a new position as the head of the state’s cybersecurity.
